An alloy from outer space
This is the only Cosmograph Daytona with a meteorite dial. The meteorite comes from the core of an asteroid – perhaps even a planet that exploded, propelling the material across the Solar System until it had the chance to enter the planet’s orbit and gravity pulled it down to Earth.

During its journey, the core of the meteorite slowly transformed, creating strange metal patterns, due to the very slow cooling of the molten asteroid core. Designers at Rolex created a unique treasure trove of these configurations for some of their most prestigious models, including this Cosmograph Daytona.

TACHYMETRIC SCALE
High performance timer
A key part of the style of the line is the bezel, which features a tachymetric scale for measuring average speeds up to 400 miles or kilometers per hour. Blending high-tech with understated aesthetics, the black bezel is a nod to the 1965 model, which was fitted with a black Plexiglas bezel insert.

The Cerachrom monobloc bezel in high-tech ceramic offers several advantages: it is corrosion-resistant, scratch-resistant and unaffected by UV rays. The extremely durable bezel shape offers an exceptionally clear tachymetric scale, thanks to a thin layer of platinum applied to the numerals and graduations using a PVD process. The Cerachrom monobloc bezel is made from a single piece of material and holds the crystal firmly in place on the case, ensuring waterproofness.

OYSTERFLEX STRAP
Strong and durable resistance
The 18 ct gold Cosmograph Daytona models with Cerachrom bezels are fitted with an Oysterflex bracelet. Developed by Rolex and patented, this bracelet uniquely combines the durability of a metal bracelet with the comfort of an elastic strap.

It is made from two curved, flexible metal blades – one for each strap section – moulded with black high-performance elastomer. For optimum comfort, the Oysterflex bracelet is fitted with padding on the inner sides and features an Oysterlock safety clasp to prevent accidental opening. The length of the bracelet can be adjusted via the ingenious Rolex slide-style extension system.
